About the Training Program
02
Alpenglow Stables is devoted to developing the best riding partners. Here at Alpenglow, we believe in a solid foundation, built on trust and understanding. The goal is to properly prepare these horses for a successful, lifetime relationship with their future riders.
Young horses are carefully selected or bred with an emphasis on a sound mind, strong sport bloodlines, correct confirmation and good health. All foals start training on Day 1. It is imperative that the relationship between people and horse starts as soon as possible. Age appropriate activities and training are done, while still allowing babies to be babies.

It is important that every horse that graduates from Alpenglow, is able to do general basics that should really be expected from all adult horses. This includes tieing, brushing, standing, bathing, clipping trailering, and good ground manners. Safety for both handler and horse is of utmost importance.

When each individual horse is ready (both mentally and physically), they are gently brought under saddle. This will include general tasks, such as learning to wear tack, lounging, and learning to bear a riders weight. Each horse will progress differently, and they are allowed to set the pace of training, not the other way around. It is very important that horses are never rushed and allowed to figure things out that keeps them engaged and happy in their work. The goal is that every riding experience can be geared towards being a positive experience so that they horse learns to enjoy being ridden and look forward to it.

Alpenglow's goal with every horse that leaves the program is to help nurture the horse to enjoy their job and have the longevity of a lifetime of success with their new Owner's. When you buy an Alpenglow horse, you are buying more than a show horse, but a true partner.
